
Maryland health officials on Tuesday reported 516 new cases of coronavirus, the lowest number of daily new cases reported since the state confirmed 492 cases on Oct. 21.
After Maryland reported 1,159 new cases on Saturday, the state saw its daily number of new cases decrease for three consecutive days, with 847 cases on Sunday, 722 on Monday, and 516 today.
At least 372,221 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,933,581 have tested negative as of Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Maryland’s coronavirus caseload grew by about 0.14% Tuesday.
The state has completed 7,495,908 coronavirus tests to date, with 9,967 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
Over the last seven days, an average of 4.23% of the state’s COVID-19 tests have come back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 4.22% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 4.26% for Marylanders older than 35.
Maryland’s coronavirus-related hospitalizations on Tuesday declined slightly to 1,100 patients — a decrease of three fewer COVID-19 patients hospitalized compared to Monday.
There are currently 817 COVID-19 patients in acute care, with 11 fewer than Monday, and 293 in intensive care, with eight more than Monday.
Maryland has hospitalized a total of 33,980 people with COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
To date, state officials have confirmed the deaths of 7,430 Marylanders have been related to coronavirus, including 30 COVID-19 deaths reported since Monday. There are also 182 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
The state has distributed the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to a total of 655,277 Marylanders, including 5,745 who received it in the past 24 hours.
Of the Maryland recipients of the first vaccine dose, 253,702 individuals have received the second vaccine dose, including 8,374 people in the past 24 hours.
As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, there have been 71,216 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 61,835 in Montgomery County; 49,497 in Baltimore County; 39,552 in Baltimore City; 34,645 in Anne Arundel County; 16,481 in Frederick County; 15,342 in Howard County; 12,100 in Washington County; 12,095 in Harford County; 8,597 in Charles County; 7,355 in Carroll County; 6,634 in Wicomico County; 6,368 in Allegany County; 4,958 in Cecil County; 4,928 in St. Mary’s County; 3,586 in Calvert County; 3,201 in Worcester County; 2,499 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,349 in Somerset County; 2,252 in Dorchester County; 1,999 in Caroline County; 1,831 in Garrett County; 1,808 in Talbot County; and 1,093 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 18,378 are people age 9 or younger; 35,332 are people ages 10-19; 67,500 are people ages 20-29; 64,132 are people ages 30-39; 56,618 are people ages 40-49; 56,200 are people ages 50-59; 38,007 are people ages 60-69; 21,655 are people ages 70-79; and 14,399 are people age 80 or older.
The state has identified 195,013 of the confirmed coronavirus patients as female and 177,208 as male.
Of Maryland’s confirmed COVID-19 cases, 106,062 are Black, 60,358 are Hispanic, 128,167 are white, 8,316 are Asian, 17,447 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 51,871.
Nationwide, there have been at least 27,699,644 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 486,473 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 332.6 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
