
The percentage of Maryland’s coronavirus tests that have come back positive over the last seven days continues to decrease, with the average reaching 6.84% on Monday.
The state’s average positive test rate has decreased every day since reaching 8.22% on Jan. 17.
At least 343,138 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,787,084 have tested negative as of Monday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
The state’s coronavirus caseload rose by 1,686, an increase of 0.49%.
Maryland has completed 6,758,236 coronavirus tests to date, with 34,734 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
Maryland health officials have reported the deaths of 36 more Marylanders related to coronavirus. The state has confirmed a total of 6,726 COVID-19 fatalities to date, and there are an additional 174 deaths suspected to be related to the virus.
There are currently 1,669 Marylanders hospitalized with coronavirus, including 1,274 in acute care and 395 in intensive care.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the state has hospitalized a total of 31,188 people with COVID-19.
The state has distributed the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to a total of 330,709 Marylanders, including 11,702 who received it in the past 24 hours.
Of the Maryland recipients of the first vaccine dose, 42,228 individuals have received the second vaccine dose, including 2,973 people in the past 24 hours.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, there have been 65,562 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 56,729 in Montgomery County; 45,671 in Baltimore County; 36,886 in Baltimore City; 31,599 in Anne Arundel County; 15,046 in Frederick County; 14,028 in Howard County; 11,006 in Washington County; 10,821 in Harford County; 7,609 in Charles County; 6,622 in Carroll County; 6,068 in Allegany County; 6,053 in Wicomico County; 4,606 in Cecil County; 4,374 in St. Mary’s County; 3,254 in Calvert County; 2,974 in Worcester County; 2,287 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,168 in Somerset County; 1,962 in Dorchester County; 1,764 in Caroline County; 1,759 in Garrett County; 1,597 in Talbot County; and 1,007 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 16,505 are people age 9 or younger; 32,158 are people ages 10-19; 62,624 are people ages 20-29; 59,508 are people ages 30-39; 52,528 are people ages 40-49; 51,822 are people ages 50-59; 34,875 are people ages 60-69; 19,831 are people ages 70-79; and 13,287 are people age 80 or older.
Maryland has identified 179,975 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 163,163 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 97,149 are Black, 56,632 are Hispanic, 116,713 are white, 7,446 are Asian, 16,037 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 49,161.
Nationwide, there have been at least 25,128,825 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 419,228 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 291.9 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Monday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
