Maryland’s average coronavirus positivity rate reached its lowest point of the pandemic on Thursday, state data shows.
Over the last seven days, an average of 1.39% of the state’s COVID-19 tests have come back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 1.56% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 1.26% for Marylanders older than 35.
At least 460,194 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 3,495,623 have tested negative as of Thursday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Maryland’s coronavirus caseload rose by 134 cases, an increase of about 0.03%.
The state has completed 10,445,345 coronavirus tests to date, with 21,576 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
Of Maryland’s 347 currently hospitalized COVID-19 patients, 258 are in acute care and 89 are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients declined by one while the number of intensive care patients rose by three, marking a net increase of two more people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Wednesday.
To date, Maryland has recorded a total of 43,352 coronavirus-related hospitalizations.
State officials on Thursday confirmed that the deaths of four more Marylanders were related to COVID-19, bringing Maryland’s total number of confirmed coronavirus fatalities to 9,414. There are also 212 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
A total of 2,946,173 Marylanders have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, state data showed on Thursday.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday reported that 70.3% of Marylanders age 18 or older have received at least one vaccine dose.
Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 3,245,242 first doses and 2,708,244 second doses.
In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 9,587 first doses and 13,760 second doses.
Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 237,929 people, including 868 doses that were reported in the past 24 hours.
As of 10 a.m. Thursday, there have been 85,111 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 70,944 in Montgomery County; 65,677 in Baltimore County; 52,872 in Baltimore City; 43,807 in Anne Arundel County; 19,780 in Frederick County; 19,225 in Howard County; 16,577 in Harford County; 14,601 in Washington County; 10,881 in Charles County; 9,482 in Carroll County; 7,685 in Wicomico County; 7,011 in Allegany County; 6,304 in Cecil County; 6,031 in St. Mary’s County; 4,220 in Calvert County; 3,661 in Worcester County; 2,998 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,829 in Dorchester County; 2,613 in Somerset County; 2,342 in Caroline County; 2,161 in Talbot County; 2,034 in Garrett County; and 1,348 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 142,922 are Black, 11,119 are Asian, 162,674 are white, 69,665 are Hispanic, 21,465 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,349.
Maryland has identified 240,729 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 219,465 as male.
Of the state’s confirmed cases, 25,964 are people age 9 or younger; 47,464 are people ages 10-19; 84,372 are people ages 20-29; 78,838 are people ages 30-39; 68,569 are people ages 40-49; 68,474 are people ages 50-59; 45,589 are people ages 60-69; 25,042 are people ages 70-79; and 15,882 are people age 80 or older.
Nationwide, there have been at least 33,308,110 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 595,849 deaths. The U.S. has administered 296,703,261 coronavirus vaccine doses to date as of 10 a.m. Thursday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
