
Coronavirus-related hospitalizations in Maryland increased by 18 patients on Tuesday, according to data released by the state today.
Maryland has hospitalized a total of 13,698 coronavirus patients to date.
Of the 453 Marylanders who are currently hospitalized, 351 are in acute care and 102 are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients rose by 22 while the number of intensive care patients declined by four, marking a net increase of 18 more people hospitalized due to COVID-19 compared to Monday.
At least 101,235 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 1,066,070 have tested negative as of Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
The state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by 520, an increase of about 0.5 percent.
Maryland has completed 1,661,701 coronavirus tests to date, with 16,059 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
Over the last seven days, an average of 3.21 percent of tests have come back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests is 3.9 percent for Marylanders younger than 35 and 2.81 percent for Marylanders older than 35.
A total of 3,511 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, with seven additional deaths reported since Monday. There are also 139 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, there have been 24,888 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 19,127 in Montgomery County; 14,116 in Baltimore County; 13,566 in Baltimore City; 7,734 in Anne Arundel County; 4,111 in Howard County; 3,247 in Frederick County; 2,198 in Charles County; 2,183 in Harford County; 1,622 in Carroll County; 1,410 in Wicomico County; 1,148 in Washington County; 1,064 in St. Mary’s County; 745 in Calvert County; 738 in Cecil County; 736 in Worcester County; 493 in Queen Anne’s County; 468 in Caroline County; 424 in Talbot County; 407 in Dorchester County; 348 Allegany County; 249 in Kent County; 155 in Somerset County; and 58 in Garrett County, according to the dashboard.
Maryland has confirmed 3,583 cases in people age 9 or younger; 6,857 in people ages 10-19; 17,968 in people ages 20-29; 18,958 in people ages 30-39; 16,872 in people ages 40-49; 15,015 in people ages 50-59; 10,290 in people ages 60-69; 6,301 in people ages 70-79; and 5,391 in people age 80 or older.
The state has identified 53,452 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 47,783 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 32,296 have been Black, 24,809 have been Hispanic, 22,450 have been white, 1,862 have been Asian, 4,413 have been another race, and data is not available for the remaining 15,405.
Nationwide, there have been at least 5,444,554 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 170,564 deaths and 1,865,580 recoveries. More than 68 million people in the U.S. have been tested for COVID-19 as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
