
Maryland saw no change in the total number of residents currently hospitalized with coronavirus, with five more patients in acute care and five fewer patients in intensive care on Friday, according to data that the state released today.
Of the state’s total number of confirmed cases, 13,823 people who tested positive for COVID-19 were hospitalized at some point.
There are 455 Marylanders currently hospitalized with coronavirus — the same number as Thursday — including 353 who are in acute care and 102 who are in intensive care.
The state has confirmed a total of 102,899 COVID-19 cases to date, while 1,101,368 residents have tested negative for the virus as of Friday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Maryland’s coronavirus caseload rose by 670, an increase of about 0.7 percent.
The state has completed 1,722,957 coronavirus tests to date, with 29,386 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
On average, 3.08 percent of the state’s tests over the last seven days have come back positive for COVID-19.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests is 3.58 percent for Marylanders younger than 35 and 2.76 percent for Marylanders older than 35.
Yesterday, the gap between the two age groups’ average positive test rates narrowed to less than 1 percentage point.
The state reported five additional COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total number of fatal cases in Maryland to 3,536. There are also 138 people whose deaths are suspected to be related to coronavirus.
As of 10 a.m. Friday, there have been 25,197 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 19,325 in Montgomery County; 14,471 in Baltimore County; 13,804 in Baltimore City; 7,861 in Anne Arundel County; 4,178 in Howard County; 3,309 in Frederick County; 2,257 in Harford County; 2,234 in Charles County; 1,632 in Carroll County; 1,428 in Wicomico County; 1,192 in Washington County; 1,075 in St. Mary’s County; 757 in Calvert County; 752 in Cecil County; 739 in Worcester County; 508 in Queen Anne’s County; 472 in Caroline County; 433 in Talbot County; 425 in Dorchester County; 365 Allegany County; 255 in Kent County; 169 in Somerset County; and 61 in Garrett County, according to the dashboard.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 3,697 have been people age 9 or younger; 7,050 have been people ages 10-19; 18,304 have been people ages 20-29; 19,247 have been people ages 30-39; 17,136 have been people ages 40-49; 15,243 have been people ages 50-59; 10,441 have been people ages 60-69; 6,373 have been people ages 70-79; and 5,408 have been people age 80 or older.
The state has identified 54,335 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 48,564 as male.
Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 32,910 have been Black, 25,069 have been Hispanic, 22,944 have been white, 1,877 have been Asian, 4,501 have been another race, and data is not available for the remaining 15,598.
Nationwide, there have been at least 5,576,384 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 174,292 deaths and 1,947,035 recoveries. More than 70 million people in the U.S. have been tested for COVID-19 as of 10 a.m. Friday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
