After his latest gold medal run, The Charmery is honoring Michael Phelps with one of its locally-sourced, long-named ice cream flavors. It won’t give you a swimmer’s body, but the flavor provides an intriguing look at the Olympic legend’s process.
Phelps loves grub spot Pete’s Grille. The swimmer’s infamous breakfast at the Abell spot consisted of “three fried-egg sandwiches, one omelet, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast with powdered sugar, and three chocolate chip pancakes,” the Baltimore Sun’s Richard Gorelick reported in 2012. While we wouldn’t put it past the Charmery to combine all of those ingredients into a single flavor, only one element made the final spin.
According to ABC2, The Charmery’s limited edition flavor uses Pete’s chocolate chip pancakes. They added maple syrup and a marshmallow swirl. Since everything Phelps touches turns gold, flakes and sprinkles of that color are mixed in throughout. It’s called Phelps Phlapjack Gold.
The flavor debuts August 19, and lasts until it runs out.
