It’s the dawn of summer, meaning weekend getaway planning is an important of any workweek. Over in Baltimore County, there’s a new corner to explore.
According to CBS Baltimore, hundreds of acres in Hart Miller Island were opened up on Friday. The beach on the island was already a popular spot. Now there’s more land available for birdwatching, hiking and other rec activities.
Like many things involving nature, some storming led to the beauty. The 300 acres of land was sculpted using dredged material. Area residents raised concerns that the material would pollute the area, but the opening is a testament to the fact that they haven’t.
And they’re not done opening up the island. The northern end of the park is still under construction, with plans to support it in the future.
