Notre Dame Preparatory School (NDP), a 2020-2021 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, was named a Champion of Maryland Manufacturing in the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland’s (RMI) People’s Choice Awards. NDP was honored in the “Fighting COVID-19” category for its service efforts making masks and PPE during the early days of COVID-19. More than 11,000 votes were cast in the program. Voters chose from 143 unique stories in seven categories from around the state; NDP’s category was the largest, with 47 entries. NDP was the only middle or secondary school included in the competition; other educational institutions were colleges/universities.
“NDP is honored to receive this distinction from RMI, and we thank everyone who voted for us,” said Sister Patricia McCarron, SSND, Ph.D., headmistress of the school. “At this unprecedented time, and especially in the early days of the pandemic, NDP was grateful to combine the lessons and skills gained in our outstanding STEAM program with our Gospel mandate of service to respond to the needs of the community.”

This is the third time that RMI, a non-profit association created for manufacturers in the Baltimore Metropolitan area, has recognized NDP for its leadership in STEAM education and its impact on manufacturing. In 2018, NDP was named an RMI Emerging Leader, and in 2017 NDP was named a “Champion” institution in Maryland Manufacturing.
