Every year since time immemorial, graduating seniors have flocked to Ocean City to, well, get drunk, dance, and celebrate the end of school. The highlight (lowlight?) of last year’s beach week was a cameo appearance by gubernatorial hopeful Doug Gansler.
According to WJZ, Ocean City plans to add extra security patrols to cut down on underage drinking, fighting, and drunk driving. Last year, they issued more than 400 underage drinking citations and 600 drug arrests in the month of June, and they’re expecting this year to be even stricter.
Ocean City has also announced its plans to crack down on swearing, and is considering banning smoking on the beach. Sounds like its time to find a new beach week venue…
