Baltimore County Councilman Pat Young is proposing a temporary freeze on building data centers in the county. It comes as there is an effort to build a 42-acre, 150-megawatt data center in Woodlawn.
Young said heโs been hearing from residents who fear the potential negative impact of a data center โif we donโt do anything and just allow open, wanton building of data centers because thereโs space and itโs zoned appropriately.โ
He added, โTaking that step back and taking that pause, having that informed discussion about the impact of data centers holistically is whatโs necessary and needed.โ
