On Sunday night, the Orioles defeated the Kansas City Royals. At that point, rookie pitcher Mike Wright probably thought his day was mostly done. Not quite, it turns out.
The Baltimore Sun reports that on his drive home, Wright spotted a stranded motorist by the side of the road downtown. Wright pulled over and used his baseball strength to turn a few stubborn lugnuts so the man could change a flat tire. (He also gave the guy free tickets to a game.)
Wright is not the only Oriole to be a roadside hero; last year, Chris Davis helped lift a truck off a trapped accident victim on 295. Which only proves the point: Even if they don’t win the World Series, the Orioles are still heroes to us.
