January 5th is National Bird Day in the United States, and the timing could not be better for Baltimore sports fans, because the Orioles and the Smithsonianโs National Zoo released a Kevin Brown-narrated video sure to lift our sagging spirits.
The video has several versions on the different social media channels, though the longest is over three minutes, found on Reddit. Brown, the Oriolesโ play-by-play announcer, sometimes drifts into a Sir Richard Attenborough-type voice to match the documentary-style music, though the narration is still Brown-like absurd.
He posits that one the birds in the video is not an oriole, because what does the National Zoo even know about birds? Brown is certain it is a sparrow in face paint, which naturally sends him into an unhinged soliloquy about painting his chest orange during that one Syracuse game andโฆwell, people should watch for themselves.
In what is possibly the greatest piece of content to ever exist, Orioles social media has released a documentary style video for National Bird Day narrated by the one and only Kevin Brown

Charm City is having big feelings about birds right now. Baltimore Ravens fans, miserable after Sunday nightโs heartbreaking loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and elimination from the playoffs, are slogging through the day like their best friend just moved to the other side of the world. Baltimore Orioles pitchers and catchers do not report until Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, with the first full squad workout scheduled for Feb. 16, a seeming lifetime away.
Today, though, on National Bird Day, we have Kevin Brown being ridiculous, the Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute keeping viewers informed with the avian facts, and a little serotonin boost after a rough Sunday night football game.
