The Chronicle of Philanthropy released today a report that ranks Maryland tenth in the nation for charitable giving. Residents here give 5.7 percent of income to charity. Residents in the most generous state, Utah, give 10.6 percent.
Maryland and North Carolina are the only blue states in the top 10. Nine of the bottom 10 states are blue states. New Hampshire ranked last, with residents there giving only 2.5 percent of income to charity.
