On Saturday, both Raven Ray Rice and his fiance Janay Palmer were arrested for assault after fighting with each other at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. Rice’s attorney characterized the incident as a “very minor physical altercation,” a description that doesn’t appear to square with an awful security camera video released by TMZ.
You don’t need to watch it; just know that it shows a very unconscious-looking Palmer being dragged out of an elevator by Rice, before the couple is approached by security.
The video doesn’t show the incident itself, but it jibes with the story Deadspin received from a witness to the event, which was that Rice knocked Palmer out after she spit on him. That story is also supported by the actual content of the police summons, which states that Rice struck his fiancee “with his hand, rendering her unconscious, at the Revel Casino.” Palmer’s summons states that she struck Rice “with her hand.”
