Boys Latin Robotics Team Places Fourth in World Competition

On Saturday, April 27, the Boys’ Latin Upper School Robotics Team, Lumberjack Robotics #2534, stepped onto Ford Field in Detroit, MI for the final round of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) World Championships and walked off with a fourth-place finish! No other team from Baltimore made it to Worlds, and no other team from Maryland advanced to the finals, also known as Einsteins.

For the third year in a row, Boys’ Latin School will host a FIRST LEGO League Tournament and a FIRST LEGO League Junior Expo on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Called “Roboquake on Lake,” this exciting, hands-on day will provide FIRST LEGO League teams from the local area with an opportunity to showcase their hard work and share their inventions with fellow teams and with the community. Over 200 students will participate and over 50 volunteers will be used to make “Roboquake on Lake” a success. Both events are free and open to spectators so come check it out with the family – it’s out of this world!

Preparing to Lead: Boys’ Latin Fifth Graders Learn Leadership Skills from Upper School Students


Over the past few months, the fifth graders at Boys’ Latin have risen to the occasion of being big brothers to their kindergarten and pre-first “buddies.” Their teachers have watched their personal transformations as they assumed their responsibilities as role models to their little brothers.

For the fourth year in a row, Boys’ Latin students in all three divisions have participated in the school’s annual One Laker | One Love Day. The event, which was held this year on April 6, explores the ways that students can build healthier relationships and be ambassadors for positive change.

Visiting Day: Boys’ Latin Invites Families to Explore the Benefits of Hands-On Learning


Boys learn best by doing. That’s why Boys’ Latin focuses on experiential, hands-on learning that appeals to different senses, involves action and movement and produces tangible outcomes. For example, when it’s time to learn about ecosystems, lower school students raise trout and watch them grow from fertilized eggs into thriving baby fish. The project culminates with a field trip to Lake Roland, when the boys release their newly hatched babies into the tailwaters of Lake Roland. Along the way, boys strengthen their observation, discovery and analytical thinking skills.

The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland held an event yesterday to recognize and celebrate seven seniors who have signed National Letters of Intent to play NCAA Division I athletics next year.
