Did you see that creepy video about Sinclair Broadcasting, the one where footage of news anchors across the country reading the same script about fake news and trusted sources is edited together into a cacophonous display of propaganda? Yeah, it’s some unsettling Orwellian-type stuff. That “fake news” is part of the lexicon at all is telling.

Pikes Theatre in Pikesville hasn’t shown a film in nearly 30 years. But Ira Miller (who runs Rotunda Cinemas) is “a true believer in neighborhood theaters.” So, after some renovations, it’s back — starting today.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the revived two-screen cinema will run an even mix of blockbusters and art-house fare. Today, patrons will get to choose between the box-office-record-smashing space thriller¬†Gravity in 3D and a documentary on the traditional Jewish song “Hava Nagila” called Hava Nagila. So far, so good.
