Shop Wyndhurst Station

Shopping local during the holiday season is always a great idea. Our first stop on our local shopping excursion is Wyndhurst Station. Originally serving as a station house for the former Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad, Wyndhurst Station, located in Roland Park, was redeveloped and converted into a charming boutique retail building. The businesses and services have become staples for neighborhood residents and the broader community alike. With free parking and a leafy, country-like setting, it provides for a special and unique Baltimore City shopping or work experience.

Christmas Village in Baltimore

With so many purchases being made online these days, it’s getting harder for brick and mortar retailers to hold onto customers, even in the busier season. Many Baltimore neighborhoods are making the extra effort to push for local holiday shopping this year, by offering inventive perks like happy hours, caroling, or even a cookie crawl. Rather than sitting alone on an office computer to do your shopping this year, shoppers are taking advantage of the chance to see holiday shopping as an event, or fulfilling experience, rather than just a chore.

This week, find sales and events all over the region. Here’s a look at some of what’s happening this weekend and all week long.

  • Santa has arrived at The Shops at Kenilworth, along with the storied annual holiday train garden. Breakfast with Santa, benefiting the Salvation Army, will take place every Saturday between now and Christmas, and stop in frequently to hear local choral groups and enjoy the season’s festivities.
  • Head to  The Village of Cross Keys on December 6th, starting at 9 a.m.,  for special holiday events including the Poinsettia Patrol, a book signing with cookbook author Nancy Baggett and live music at Village Square Café. (updated- Breakfast with Santa was canceled.)
  • Visit Wyndhurst Station on December 6th for the Holiday Spree, including “cheer” and excitement at each Wyndhurst shop

Stop in on Saturday December 6th to check out Sassy’s Tomato Jam and visit on the 11th to meet local leatherworkers Almanac Industries. • Hampden will be buzzing with events all week long, including a Kinderhook snacks pop-up at Trohv on the 7th and the “Night of the Krampus” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 12th.
