There’s plenty of great basketball players from Baltimore, but Division 1 college and pro ball isn’t usually seen around these parts. This weekend, hoops fans can finally go to a game in their hometown.
The University of Maryland is taking on the Princeton Tigers at Royal Farms Arena on Saturday. It’s the first time the Terps have ventured into Baltimore since 1999. And this isn’t an exhibition. Though it’s a tune-up for conference play that begins after the first of the year, the game’s result goes on the record.
This isn’t the first time the Terps and Tigers have danced in Baltimore. Back in 1998, the arena was called Baltimore Arena. From 1992-1999, Maryland played a game in town every year. Let’s hope they keep coming back. The tenth win of the year for Maryland would be nice, too.
