Towson Bootery will close its doors next month after “fitting shoes the old fashioned way” since 1948.

“After 77 wonderful years of serving our community, we are sad to announce that Towson Bootery will be closing its doors on March 23, 2025. We sincerely appreciate your support over the years,” the store’s owners posted on their website and social media Tuesday.

Three generations have helped run Towson Bootery, since R. Richard Rudolph first opened Towson Bootery in 1948. For many years, Richard’s son Alex Rudolph owned and operated the store with help from Alex’s daughter Stephanie.

Towson Bootery’s original stomping grounds were on York Road until 1996, when the store moved to Kenilworth Mall where they have done business ever since.

Towson Bootery meets the footwear needs of the Towson community “[w]ith hard work, service, and a flair for the old touch, with the customer in mind, in the way shoes were meant to be fit,” according to the store’s website.

In addition to selling shoes and boots for men, women, and children, the business also provides shoe repair services.

Beginning March 1, Towson Bootery will have a storewide closing sale.

“This is your chance to grab your favorite styles before we close,” the owners said in their closing announcement.

Customers are also encouraged to redeem any store credits, gift cards, or outstanding orders by March 16.

“We appreciate your support and hope to see you before we say goodbye,” the owners said.

Towson Bootery is located at 810 Kenilworth Drive in Towson.
