Counter-Protests-Run-Off-the-Westboro-Baptist-Church-10

Westboro Baptist Church, the extravagantly hateful religious community known for picketing outside the funerals of soldiers and celebrities is planning a visit to Baltimore in early April.

The target of their protests? โ€œThe Catholic monstrosity masquerading as Archbishop Curley High School,โ€ Loyola University-Maryland, Catholic High of Baltimore, and the Eastern Regional Climate Preparedness Conference.

Thereโ€™s never that much logic underlying where Westboro chooses to spew their hateโ€“for example, how they love hoisting โ€œGod Hates Fagsโ€ signs outside military funerals. But according to the group, Loyola was selected as a target because it is affiliated with the Catholic church, and because it has two LGBT student groups. The two Catholic high schools are being targeted because โ€œthe so-called Christians who run these schools and churches teach sin.โ€ And the climate conference? Unclear, but I imagine it has something to do with sin, too.

My favorite thing about Westboro is the amazing counter-protest signs they have inspired. If you have a witty takedown youโ€™d like to share with the world, you can keep up with the churchโ€™s planned visit to Baltimore via their protest schedule.

  1. Proverbs 6: 16-19 (NIV)
“There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:
    Haughty eyes,
    A lying tongue,
    Hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart that devises wicked schemes,
Feet that are quick to rush into evil,
A false witness who pours out lies,
And a person who stirs up conflict in the community.”

Sounds like the only thing God hates is WBC!

  2. John 13:35 Jesus said: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

    And…

Matthew 7:21-23 21 โ€œNot everyone who says to me, โ€˜Lord, Lord,โ€™ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, โ€˜Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?โ€™ And then will I declare to them, โ€˜I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.โ€™

Westboro is not a Christian org – they are a hate cult.
