“WICKED” will return to the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, home of the historic Hippodrome Theatre, running from Dec. 17, 2025, through Jan. 11, 2026, and tickets go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m.
The show is in its 22nd year on Broadway and is the fourth longest-running show in Broadway history. “WICKED” has won more than 100 international awards, including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards. Translated into six languages, the show has been performed in more than 100 cities in 16 countries and seen by more than 70 million people.
“WICKED” tells the story of what happened in the Land of Oz long before Dorothy arrives, and a friendship between two young women turns sour. One of the women, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fierce, misunderstood, and possesses extraordinary talent. The other is a bubbly blonde who is conventionally popular. After a tense beginning, the two become friends. The world, however, decides to label one “good” and the other “wicked.”
The “WICKED” score includes hits, “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good.” The New York Times called it “the defining musical of the decade. Time Magazine described it as “a magical Broadway musical with brains, heart, and courage.”
The show is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. Tony Award winner Joe Mantello directs with musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento.
“WICKED” opened as a blockbuster film in November 2024, becoming the highest grossing film based on a Broadway musical in history.
Tickets for the return engagement will be available on the Hippodrome Theatre’s website, Ticketmaster, or at the Hippodrome Box Office Monday to Friday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. and on show days from 11 a.m. to curtain.
