Ten local developers were awarded $3.75 million to bolster homeownership in West Baltimore along the West North Avenue corridor.
The West North Avenue Development Authority (WNADA) announced the multi-million-dollar investment in local housing to help turn vacant and run-down properties into vibrant, livable homes in the area. The money will help the construction or rehabilitation of 35 homes, with each of the ten developers receiving FY25 Housing Grant Awards to complete three to seven homes.
The area of concentration for these homes is along the 2700-2900 blocks of West North Avenue. WNADA hopes the investment will improve the neighborhoodโs stability by encouraging home ownership, made easier with wider access to high-quality, affordable housing opportunities.
WNADA provides down payment assistance to employees of the Druid Heights Community Development Corporation (DHCDC), Coppin Heights Community Development Corporation (CHCDC), Greater Mondawmin Coordinating Council (GMCC), and Maryland State employees.
WNADA prioritizes supporting local, minority-owned and women-owned developers. This is to ensure that neighborhood revitalization is community-led, equitable, and sustainable.
โThese investments strengthen the foundation of West Baltimoreโs neighborhoods,โ said Jared Jackson, WNADAโs housing development officer. โEach project contributes to a corridor where families can live, work, and thriveโwith ownership opportunities that keep wealth and stability in our communities.โ
