Who can refuse when the Maryland Zoo asks for help with their baby giraffe?

The zoo is asking the public to take a sneak peek inside the Giraffe House to be one of the first to see the new calf, Titali, and her mother, Kipepeo, or โ€œKipi.โ€

With this special opportunity, visitors with a Sneak Peek visit pass will be first to see Titali and her mother inside the Giraffe House, which has been closed to the public since the baby giraffe was born on March 27. ย The birth was a surprise to all surrounding humans, including zoo staff, and the newborn is Kipiโ€™s first. The mother has been at the zoo since November 2024.

Young giraffes can be easily startled by new things and experiences, so zoo keepers have been adjusting Titaliโ€™s environment to help her get used to all the sights, sounds, and smells. Sneak Peek visits allow small, scheduled groups of people inside to help Titali get used to human visitors before the Giraffe House fully reopens later this summer.

Money raised by Sneak Peek tickets will support the future growth of the giraffe herd, in addition to supporting giraffe care and conservation of four species of giraffe in 21 African countries. Tickets cost $20 for Maryland Zoo members and $25 for non-members. Prices do not include zoo admission.

This special visiting opportunity is available from June 20 through June 30, 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The time on your ticket is the time of entry to the Giraffe House. It takes approximately 30 minutes to walk from the Main Gate entrance of the zoo to the Giraffe House. Click this link to purchase tickets.
