If you live in Baltimore, you may have seen black smoke rising from the east on Sunday. If you live in East Baltimore, you were practically engulfed in it.
Embers from a six-alarm fire in a vacant warehouse at Kirk and Curtain avenues were picked up by the wind and started fires at eight other buildings. According to Baltimore City Fire Captain Roman Clark, all but one building โ a church โ were vacant. (The church suffered โmostly water damage.โ) But even so, with fires spread over a square mile, many residents are currently displaced.
