Otakon, the annual convention for obsessive fans of Asian pop culture (anime, manga, video games, etc.), returns to Baltimoreโ€™s Inner Harbor Friday. So, assuming youโ€™re not one of the more than 20,000 attendees, I suggest coming up with an excuse to head downtown this weekend. Youโ€™re sure to catch some stellar costumes as fans enter and exit the Baltimore Convention Center. If you canโ€™t make it down, try keeping an eye on Craigslistโ€™s missed connection, as there might be some gems there, too.

But you better enjoy the people watching (not to mention the economic boost) while it lasts! Otakonโ€™s days in Baltimore are numbered. The convention is set to migrate to D.C. in 2017 because organizers say the BCC โ€œhas not aged gracefully.โ€

If youโ€™re one of the initiated, there are still spots left for this yearโ€™s Otakon, which will feature some kind of mega 20th anniversary celebration of Sailor Moon.
