What: A sweet beach cottage, close to the ocean and with some curb appeal. It has a name, Seahorse Crossing, and has been used as a rental property. “No smoking, no pets of any kind or groups under the age of 25.” According to the listing it is a “rental powerhouse,” with a “five-year history of being a $100K+ income generator.” The main house sleeps 12, which is incredible considering its 1,514 sq ft. size. The living room has a fireplace. The bathrooms are modern. There’s a good-sized, eat-in kitchen with granite countertops and access to an outdoor patio. Amenities include an outdoor hot tub, an outdoor shower and an irrigation system for the tiny yard. Across the patio is the guest house.
Where: A nice Rehoboth location, near the southern half of the mile-long boardwalk, at a slight remove from, but an easy walk to, all the shops and tourists. It’s about 2 1/2 hours from Baltimore, depending on traffic. Rehoboth is a small town, with just 1,500 year-round residents. That population can swell to 27,000 during the summer months. It has a pleasant family feeling, with an unusual number of high-end restaurants for a beach town, and is known for being gay-friendly. In 2012, it received a 5-star rating for water quality.
Why: We like the small scale, as we can’t stand overbuilt beach houses. Income generator.
Why Not: Price is more than a million dollars above the Zillow estimate.
