Last week we reported on a list that claimed that Baltimore was the 6th poorest city in the United States. Now a different list has come out, claiming that Baltimore is actually the 22nd richest city. So what gives?
This seeming disparity is easily explained by one simple fact: Baltimore City is quite poor, while its surrounding suburbs are quite wealthy. That difference in incomes can make for wildly diverging stats, depending on where you draw the line that defines โBaltimore.โ
In other words: Baltimore is both rich and poor, at the same time.

To say, via the differentiation outlined above, that Baltimore is “rich and poor at the same time” is a bit too mild a statement for the discrepancy between the haves and have-nots that exists there.
