Maryland health officials on Monday reported 557 new coronavirus cases, the smallest daily number of newly reported cases since the beginning of March.

The last time Maryland recorded this low of a daily total of new cases was 468 cases on March 2, although the state does not necessarily report new cases on the day they are confirmed by a test.

With Monday’s new cases, the state’s coronavirus caseload grew by about 0.13%.

At least 443,814 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 3,317,412 have tested negative as of Monday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

Maryland has completed 9,569,000 coronavirus tests to date, with 17,143 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

An average of 4.51% of the state’s COVID-19 tests over the last seven days came back positive.

The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 4.84% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 4.29% for Marylanders older than 35.

Of the 1,145 Marylanders who are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 867 are in acute care and 278 are in intensive care.

The number of acute care patients fell by 17 while the number of intensive care patients declined by 13, marking a net decrease of 30 fewer people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Sunday.

Maryland has recorded a total of 40,941 coronavirus-related hospitalizations to date.

A total of 8,483 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, with eight additional deaths reported since Sunday. There are also 186 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.

A total of 1,835,942 Marylanders have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, state data showed on Monday.

Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 2,509,372 first doses and 1,655,358 second doses.

In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 31,955 first doses and 34,105 second doses.

Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 180,584 people, including 77 doses that were reported in the past 24 hours.

As of 10 a.m. Monday, there have been 82,316 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 69,420 in Montgomery County; 62,566 in Baltimore County; 50,311 in Baltimore City; 42,103 in Anne Arundel County; 19,304 in Frederick County; 18,683 in Howard County; 15,913 in Harford County; 14,029 in Washington County; 10,423 in Charles County; 8,998 in Carroll County; 7,392 in Wicomico County; 6,780 in Allegany County; 5,954 in Cecil County; 5,758 in St. Mary’s County; 4,121 in Calvert County; 3,537 in Worcester County; 2,893 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,663 in Dorchester County; 2,526 in Somerset County; 2,248 in Caroline County; 2,052 in Talbot County; 1,966 in Garrett County; and 1,301 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.

Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 24,147 are people age 9 or younger; 44,948 are people ages 10-19; 81,367 are people ages 20-29; 75,879 are people ages 30-39; 66,336 are people ages 40-49; 66,307 are people ages 50-59; 44,296 are people ages 60-69; 24,398 are people ages 70-79; and 15,579 are people age 80 or older.

Maryland has identified 231,688 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 211,569 as male.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 134,978 are Black, 10,677 are Asian, 156,245 are white, 67,651 are Hispanic, 20,715 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,991.

Nationwide, there have been at least 32,077,935 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 572,200 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 427.2 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Monday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
