UPDATE: The Baltimore Sun reports that Dr. Houk suffered multiple leg fractures and bleeding on the brain, but his condition has improved. His family reports โexcellent progressโ since last weekโs collision. He has undergone two surgeries on his leg and will face another. Originally reported March 28, 2013: We are sorry to report that dear, friendly Ted Houk, who we wrote about last year in Charles Street Runner Jogs His Commute and Inspires, was hit by a motorist this morning while jogging to work from his Lutherville home to his office in Towson. The Baltimore Sun reports that a 65-year-old woman operating a 2005 Toyota RAV hit the physician at Chestnut Avenue and Charles Street. He was taken by Medevac to Maryland Shock Trauma.
We are shocked and saddened by this news. We will give you an update as soon as we know anything.

For the last 16 years, we have loved seeing Dr Houk running – for years his identity was a mystery to us and our carpool marveled at his endurance. We are all praying for a complete recovery.
