After a gut-wrenching loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson spoke to the press about the gameโ€™s highlights and lowlights, as he always does. Before he talked to reporters, however, Jackson spoke to his mother, Felicia Jones, and she apparently had opinions about his performance.

โ€œShe just cussed me out,โ€ he said. โ€œI’m mad, so we’re going to get after it, bruh, I’m not going to lie to you. I can’t wait for this bye to get on. We got the Giants coming up. I’m ready to go.”

Lots of Ravens football world had Justin Tucker on their mind, as the man who never missed an extra point or a field goal for so long has become the man who suddenly has the yips this season. Jackson took responsibility for his own play, and his mother made sure to let him know what she thought.

The reporter had asked about Jackson not running as much as he could have, and he said, โ€œMy mama just told me that.โ€

โ€œShe said there were lanes I should’ve took and ran,โ€ Jackson said. โ€œI was just trying to let guys develop routes. I was just trying to go through my progressions, but she’s right. I’m gonna do my [bleep], like I ain’t [bleep]. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for this [cussing], I’m just mad because I feel like we should win these games and we’re not getting it done.”

Fans on social media were predominantly in agreement with Jacksonโ€™s mother and loved that not only did she give him some tough love, but that she gave him pretty sound football guidance in the process.

Quite a few folks wished Jones was on the sidelines or at least had access to his headset.

Others noted there is nothing like a mom to light a fire under a child, no matter how old that child is.

Still others just appreciated that Jones raised a man who takes responsibility and best of all, calls his mom.

This exchange got people thinking back to 2022 when Baker Mayfield โ€” the (current) Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback โ€” told reporters that he was intimidated by Lamar Jackson’s mom.

When Jackson won the Heisman Trophy in 2016, apparently he invited Mayfield up to his suite to hang out. It was there that Jones apparently invited Mayfield down to Florida to train with Jackson, which he politely declined after having a “few beverages.” That was in 2016, and in 2022 he still felt intimidated by Jackson’s mom. All of this thoroughly surprised and amused Jackson, by the way, who knew nothing of the exchange until 2022.

So that counts as TWO NFL quarterbacks who don’t want Felicia Jones mad at them.
