Are you a visual artist? Do you love travel? Does travel help you expand your depth as an artist? If so, make sure to apply for the 10th annual Municipal Art Society of Baltimore City (MASB) Artist Travel Prize of $7,000.

Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts (BOPA) announced this MASB-sponsored award, which supports Baltimore-based visual artists who are looking for avenues to expand their artistic practice. MASB was founded in 1899 as part of the City Beautiful movement, and it is one of only two organizations operating under its original charter, dedicated to enhancing Baltimoreโ€™s public spaces through art.

โ€œBOPA is honored to continue our longstanding partnership with the Municipal Art Society of Baltimore City through the Artist Travel Prize,โ€ said Robyn Murphy, Interim CEO of BOPA. โ€œThis award is a powerful investment in the creative potential of Baltimoreโ€™s artists. By supporting travel that enriches and informs artistic practice, we are helping artists bring new ideas, global perspectives, and renewed inspiration back to our city.โ€

The 2025 MASB Artist Travel Prize of $7,000 will go to a visual artist or visual artist collaborators living or working in Baltimore City. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. Proposals need to explain how the travel to the specific location will โ€œinspire, or support the artistโ€™s work,โ€ and include plans for a public presentation once the artist(s) return to Baltimore.

Previous recipients of the MASB Travel Prize include: Stephen Towns, Nate Larson, Erick Antonio Benitez, Erin Fostel, LaToya Hobbs, J.M. Giordano, Hoesy Corona, Schroeder Cherry, Rosa Leff, Jackie Milad, Elena Volkova, Jill Orlov, and Sherry Insley.

Applications are open now and will close at 11:59 p.m. on June 20, 2025. See all eligibility details and submission information by clicking this link.
