Summer continues to deliver backyard barbecue aromas, outdoor concerts, and afternoons lazing in the pool. The season also brings some exciting events this month, with a plethora of ideas for how you can spend the summertime.

From concerts by big names to smaller (but still entertaining) musical performances, opportunities to explore new foods and get messy, there’s plenty to do this month.

โ€œItโ€™s The Comedy of Errors, Hon!โ€, ongoing through Saturday, Aug. 9, various locations. Chesapeake Shakespeare Companyโ€™s Shakespeare Beyond program returns for its third season with this love letter to Baltimore in the form of an adaptation of Shakespeareโ€™s beloved โ€œThe Comedy of Errors.โ€ The Wagon, Shakespeare Beyondโ€™s mobile performing unit, allows the company to bring the production all across Maryland for free outdoor performances. Twilight Thursdays: Foundry Row Summer Concert Series, ongoing through Thursday, Aug. 14, Foundry Row. Foundry Rowโ€™s weekly summer concert series is back, featuring performances from top local bands and a beer and wine garden, presented by Mamaโ€™s On The Half Shell Owings Mills.

Friday Night Live: Summer Concert Series, ongoing through Friday, Aug. 22, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Hunt Valley Towne Centre. Enjoy live music from your favorite local bands every Friday on the upper deck between California Pizza Kitchen and Sammyโ€™s Trattoria.

Jeezy, Aug. 1, doors open at 7 p.m., event starts at 8 p.m., Lyric Baltimore. Hip-hop artist Young Jeezy will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut album, “Letโ€™s Get It: Thug Motivation 101,” reimagined with a full symphony orchestra.

Savannah Bananas, Friday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 2, Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Visiting from Savannah, Georgia, the Savannah Bananas baseball team will bring their entertaining showmanship to Baltimore.

20th Annual ResFest – Reservoir Hill Resource Fair & Music Festival, Saturday, Aug. 2, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., German Park. Celebrating its 20th year, ResFest will feature more than 50 resource and community vendors, live music from local favorites, school supply giveaways, food trucks, and more. 12th Annual Summer Plein Air Show: Opening Reception & Painting Demo, Saturday, Aug. 2, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Crystal Moll Gallery. Hosted by The Crystal Moll & Highlandtown Galleries, this family-friendly event will include a demo with award-winning artist Lynn Mehta, a Paint-Out, a Wet Paint Sale, and curated exhibitions in both galleries. Science Trivia Crawl, Friday, Aug. 8, 7 to 9 p.m., Maryland Science Center. Grab some friends, and a drink, and search each exhibit to find answers to trivia questions. This event is 21+, and Ministry of Brewing will be on site to meet your adult beverage needs.

Puppet Karaoke, Friday, Aug. 8, workshop at 6 p.m., karaoke at 7 p.m., Baltimore Rock Opera Society. Karaoke enthusiasts can grab a puppet (or not) to help them sing their favorite tune. There will also be a puppeteering workshop before the main event, where attendees can learn the basics of puppetry.

Shrek The Musical Jr.: A Night to Remember, Saturday, Aug. 9, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., M&T Bank Exchange at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center. R.I.S.E Arts Center, in partnership with The Arts Project, presents this family-friendly, end-of-summer stage production.

The Second Saturday S#!T Show feat. Parker Brown, Saturday, Aug. 9, doors and happy hour 7 p.m., show 8 p.m., Ottobar. Join host Mike Quindlen as he welcomes headliner Parker Brown; featured comedians David Grant, Lily Brackett, Dark Mark, and Kevin Slattery; and special guest Carlos Garcia.

Talib Kweli, Thursday, Aug. 14, doors open at 7 p.m., show begins at 8 p.m., Baltimore Soundstage. Legendary rapper Talib Kweli, known for his political insight and social awareness, will stop by Soundstage with special guests MC Bravada and Nature Boi.

Katy Perry, Aug. 15, doors open at 6 p.m., event begins at 7 p.m., CFG Bank Arena. Pop star Katy Perry will make a stop in Baltimore during The Lifetimes Tour, in support of her new dance-pop album “143.”

Sunset Concert with Whiskey Feathers Band, Saturday, Aug. 16, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Star Bright Farm. Star Bright Farm welcomes back Whiskey Feathers Band, a rising genre-fluid band from Baltimore, blending rock, Americana, and livetronica.

Whiskey on the Waterfront, Saturday, Aug. 16, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sagamore Spirit Distillery. Sagamore Spirit Distillery is teaming up with BARCS for this Wags and Whiskey edition of Whiskey on the Waterfront, featuring live music, food trucks, and whiskey cocktails. The event is held on the third Saturday of each month, May through October (weather permitting).

Canton Waterfront, Saturday, Aug. 16 and Sunday, Aug. 17, Baltimore Center Stage. Sailing between the coasts of two generations and two parallel time periods, Karen Liโ€™s Canton Waterfront is a new play that follows two members of the Shek family and two of their descendants.

Mess Fest, Saturday, Aug. 16 and Sunday, Aug. 17, Maryland Science Center. The Science Center is packing the most mucky, slimy, sticky, sloppy science they can come up with into a weekend-long celebration, including a 50-bottle Mentos and Coke eruption in honor of their 50th anniversary.

Uncruel Summer – A Girly Pop Dance Party, Saturday, Aug. 16, 9 p.m., Ottobar. Grab your friends and dance the night away to music from Taylor, Sabrina, Tate, Gracie, Chappell, Olivia, Billie, Ariana, Charli, Gaga & MORE! 

Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! Aug. 20, doors open at 5 p.m., event starts at 6 p.m., Lyric Baltimore. Join the characters of “Yo Gabba Gabba” for a fun, family-friendly, live experience.

Nate Bargatze, Aug. 21 and 22, doors open at 6 p.m., event begins at 7 p.m., CFG Bank Arena. Comedian Nate Bargatze will be in Baltimore for two nights as part of his 20225 Big Dumb Eyes World Tour. The two-time “Saturday Night Live” host released his most recent one-hour comedy special, “Nate Bargatze: Hello World,” on Amazon Prime, where it holds the record as Amazon’s most-streamed original comedy special in its first 28 days of viewership.

Candlelight: 90s Unplugged, Friday, Aug. 22, 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., Baltimore Museum of Art. Experience the sounds of the 90s performed by a string quartet under the gentle glow of candlelight. The set list will include songs from the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Radiohead, The Cranberries, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt, Lenny Kravitz, Alanis Morissette, and more.

Rave ‘N Dance – Nevermore Academy Themed Rave, Friday, Aug. 22, 9 p.m., Baltimore Soundstage. Wear all black (Wednesday style) or all white (Nevermore style) for a themed event featuring Nevermore Rave’N dance decor, signature themed drinks, and DJs all night.

Zoo Snooze, Saturday, Aug. 23, 5:30 p.m. Saturday overnight through 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Maryland Zoo. Enjoy dinner and breakfast, games and activities, and more during a sleepover at the Maryland Zoo.

Maryland Vegan Eats Summer Fest, Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24, two sessions each day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Power Plant Live! Taste delicious vegan food, visit more than 30 vendors, watch cooking demonstrations, enjoy live entertainment and more.

Nine Inch Nails, Aug. 26, doors open at 6:30 p.m., event begins at 7:30 p.m., CFG Bank Arena. After the band’s highly reviewed tour in 2022, Nine Inch Nails is peeling it back for their 2025 tour. The band will stop in Baltimore as part of the North American leg of the tour, launching in August.

Disney Descendants/Zombies, Aug. 27, doors open at 6 p.m., event begins at 7 p.m., CFG Bank Arena. The worlds of Disney’s “Descendants” and “Zombies” collide in this music-packed tour that the kids are sure to enjoy.

Miryokucon, Friday, Aug. 29, through Sunday, Aug. 31, Lord Baltimore Hotel. Enthusiasts of anime, video games, and Japanese pop culture won’t want to miss Miryokucon. The convention will feature tons of vendors, cosplayers, performances, and more.

Saturday Nite Rave, Saturday, Aug. 30, 6 p.m., Ottobar. Presented by Club BASSMODE, Saturday Nite Rave celebrates the return of classic Saturday night con-style anime raves.

DaBaby and More, Aug. 30, doors open at 7 p.m., event begins at 8 p.m., CFG Bank Arena. VOICES presents this Summer Shutdown Labor Day 2025 concert, featuring performances by rappers and singers Toosii, DaBaby, Fridayy, and other special guests. The event will be hosted by DJ Quicksilva and Persia Nicole.

Alexander the Pretty Good, Saturday, Aug. 30, 7 p.m., Black Cherry Puppet Theater. “Alexander the Pretty Good,” who describes himself as “a really decent mind-reader,” will perform this magically mesmerizing show.

Wild Water Splash Days, Saturday, Aug. 30, through Monday, Sept. 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Maryland Zoo. Cool off with water slides, splash pads, bounce houses, and other fun at the Maryland Zoo over Labor Day weekend.

Tate McRae, Aug. 31, doors open at 6 p.m., event begins at 7 p.m., CFG Bank Arena. Canadian singer-songwriter and “So You Think You Can Dance” finalist Tate McRae is coming to Baltimore as part of her Miss Possessive Tour.

August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson, Sunday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, September 28, Everyman Theatre. This award-winning American classic, presented as part of Baltimoreโ€™s August Wilson Celebration, opens August 31 with a special pay-what-you-choose performance.
