The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) has redesigned its Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Product Management, reimagining advanced education for creative professionals.
MICAโs 30-credit online graduate program combines design, technology, and innovation using generative intelligence tools, sustainable sourcing, and effective communication strategies to prepare graduate students for the changing job markets. The new program can be customized to suit each graduateโs interest, and it is designed for working professionals, so it offers schedule flexibility.
There are four flexible pathways in the redesigned MPS program: Digital Product Management, Luxury Goods & Experience Design, Artisanal & Craft Production, and Ethical Global Sourcing & Sustainability. In each pathway, students acquire strategic vision and hands-on expertise in bringing responsible, market-ready products from concept to launch. Upon graduation, they are equipped with the confidence they need to lead creative teams, tell compelling stories, and drive innovation in whatever industry they choose.
At the redesignโs launch, the program features two specialized pathways: Digital Product Management and Luxury Goods & Experience Design. In Digital Product Management, students combine creativity and technology to create innovation through AI, data insight, and emerging product strategies. In Luxury Goods & Experience Design, they create meaningful experiences and sustainable luxury brands that balance cultural value, aesthetics, and responsibility,
In Fall 2026, two more pathways will be added: Artisanal & Craft Production and Ethical Global Sourcing & Sustainability. Students studying Artisanal & Craft Production will learn how to shape sustainable futures for tangible products via ethical sourcing, design thinking, and circular production. On the Ethical Global Sourcing & Sustainability pathway, students will learn how to lead responsible innovation globally by integrating design, strategy, and environmental stewardship.
