Halloween is finally here! From spine-tingling musical performances to community trick-or-treating opportunities, there are plenty of fun ways to spend the holiday.

Plus, the Baltimore Museum of Art will open artist Amy Sherald’s “American Sublime” exhibition, which leaders expect could be the biggest show in the museum’s history.

Trick or Treat through the Square, Thursday, Oct. 30, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Belvedere Square. Trick-or-treat from local merchants, listen to music by DJ Nick, participate in a Thriller dance lesson, watch a performance by The White Marsh Ballet Academy, and compete in a costume contest.

An Encounter with Early Vampires, Thursday, Oct. 30, 6 p.m., Guilford Hall Brewery. In this edition of the “Profs & Pints” series, University of Virginia assistant professor Stanley Joseph Stepanic will talk about centuries-old Slavic beliefs about vampires.

The War of the Worlds, Thursday, Oct. 30, 8 p.m., Baltimore Rock Opera Society. Motte & Bailey Productions will present a live re-enactment of Orson Welle’s 1938 radio drama “The War of The Worlds.”

The Dead Composers Society, Thursday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Nov. 1, Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. BSO Music Director Jonathon Heyward and Baltimore writer (including Baltimore Fishbowl columnist) Dan Rodricks gather for a musically mysterious meeting of The Dead Composers’ Society.

Zoo Boo, Friday, Oct. 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Maryland Zoo. Explore a hay maze, participate in a costume contest, make seasonal crafts, go trick-or-treating throughout the zoo, and more. Attendees are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

Hampden HalloweenFest, Friday, Oct. 31, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., The Avenue in Hampden. Go trick-or-treating with Hampden merchants from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and participate in a costume contest at 6:30 p.m. in the 900 block of West 36th Street.

Halloween Costume & Dance Party, Friday, Oct. 31, 6 p.m., Peabody Heights Brewery. Dress up in your Halloween costume and dance the night away.

Halloween Bike Party, Friday, Oct. 31, 7 p.m., St. Mary’s Park. Whether your costume is ghoulish, glam, or goofy, get dressed up for a Halloween bike ride through the streets of Baltimore.

Billy Strings, Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1, doors open at 6:30 p.m., event begins at 7:30 p.m., CFG Bank Arena. Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician Billy Strings is bringing his tour to Baltimore.

Family Fall Festival, Saturday, Nov. 1, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Star Bright Farm. Bring the family out to the farm for food, live music, seasonal shopping at the Barn Market, and activities including a straw bale maze, wagon rides, face painting, and farmyard animals.

STEM to Studio Opening Reception, Saturday, Nov. 1, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Gallery Reimagined. Presented by Gallery Reimagined in collaboration with the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET), STEM to Studio: Interconnection of Science and Art is a celebration of creative interpretation—where artists engage deeply with scientific ideas to craft visual narratives that bridge disciplines and spark dialogue.

Dream Big Celebration, Saturday, Nov. 1, doors open at 12:30 p.m., event starts at 1 p.m., SNF Parkway Theatre. Watch the “2025 Dream Big Celebration,” filmed by Waasi Films. Plus, catch a performance by the Baltimore School for the Arts Jazz Ensemble, segments from Maryland Public Television’s “Harriet Tubman: Visions of Freedom,” and more.

Chocolate Covered Rocky Horror, Saturday, Nov. 1, 8:30 p.m., Baltimore Center Stage. An African American Shadow-cast ensemble entitled “Chocolate Covered Rocky Horror” performs the beloved “Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Enjoy a preshow, costume contest and audience partici…pation.

Pumpkin Smash, Sunday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m. to noon, Maryland Science Center. Though Halloween has come and passed, your jack-o’-lantern can still have one last hurrah. Chuck your pumpkin off the science center’s roof and watch it splat down below.

Brandy and Monica, Sunday, Nov. 2, doors open at 6 p.m., event begins at 7 p.m., CFG Bank Arena. Singers Brandy and Monica faced off in their iconic duet “The Boy Is Mine” in 1998. More than 25 years later, the Grammy Award-winning artists are teaming up again as they embark on their “The Boy Is Mine Tour.” Along the tour, they will be joined by special guests, including Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, and 2025 “American Idol” winner Jamal Roberts. Catch the action at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena.

“Amy Sherald: American Sublime” Exhibition Opens, Sunday, Nov. 2, Artist Amy Sherald’s exhibition, “American Sublime,” will open at the Baltimore Museum of Art this weekend. The exhibition will be on display at the BMA from Nov. 2 through April 5. Read more in this Baltimore Fishbowl article.
