A new community space and café for children ages 0 to 5 years old and their caregivers opens officially in Baltimore City over the first weekend of May.
Our House Baltimore is a holistic community space, celebrating its grand opening with two special events. On May 1, from 12–1 p.m., adults are invited to an exclusive ribbon cutting and an intimate celebration with light fare, wine, and champagne. This event is intended to thank the people who helped bring Our House Baltimore to fruition. On May 2, from 10 a.m.–12 p.m., Our House Baltimore invites families for a grand “fancy play date”; a day filled with play, creativity, and connection.
Our House Baltimore is a hub offering more than a place to eat and play. It is designed to be a nurturing environment offering connection in an inclusive space. All families, regardless of income or background are invited and offered access to enriching programs and activities. Our House Baltimore prioritizes culture, belonging, intergenerational relationships, and supporting educators.
Memberships range from a Day Pass to a 10-pack to a monthly pass coming with member perks. There is a significant sibling discount, as well as a more than 50% discount for SNAP, Medicaid, and WIC members. There are a sliding scale option and a scholarship application available to ensure access for all families.
Our House is a mission-driven small business, focused on equity, joy, and support for families and small children in Baltimore, prioritizing community impact first and foremost. It is not meant to replace early education but supplement it as a learning-through-play space.
Our House was founded by Dr. Maureen Nicol, who holds a doctorate from Columbia University and background in education. She has overseen the building of the café, the indoor play space, and an eco-patio, “bringing a grounded, natural setting into the heart of Baltimore’s city space,” she wrote on Instagram.
“This dream has been a long time in the making, and to finally open our doors and welcome you in—it’s something I’ll never take for granted,” Nicol wrote on Instagram. “This is just the beginning.”
Our House Baltimore is located at 1920 Greenmount Ave., Baltimore, Maryland. It has hours on Tuesdays through Saturdays.
