VegasInsider.com has updated its analysis of the most foul-mouthed fans across Major League Baseball, and we have some work to do, Baltimore, because our fandom ranked No. 2 โ€ฆ most polite.

Only the St. Louis Cardinals fanbase ranked higher than Baltimore Orioles fans for positive and polite comments in an analysis of more than one million comments from the subreddits of all 30 MLB fandoms. The grand prize for most foul-mouthed fanbase went to the Athletics for the second year in a row, with 6.03% of their fansโ€™ comments containing obscenities.

This is a humiliation that cannot stand. To even be ranked among the top five most polite fanbases is an affront to our collective town ego and proud identity as a blue-collar city.

Data was collected from April 2025 through April 2026, and each fandom was given a percentage value based on the percentage of comments on their subreddit that contained swear words. In total, 52,313 obscenities were found across teams’ fanbases. VegasInsider.com collected a minimum of 4,000 comments per teamโ€™s fandom.

The analysis ranked two general qualities in fanbase comments: the inclusion of swear words (foul-mouthed) and the emotional tone of the comments (negative, positive, or neutral). It was in the first quality that Os fans need improvement. (Readerโ€™s interpretation of โ€œimprovementโ€ is up to them.) The report showed that a paltry 3.37% of the comments from Baltimore Orioles fans included swear words, placing us behind โ€œmost politeโ€-ranked Cardinals fans, who swore in only 3.13% of their comments.

Perennial rival Boston Red Sox fans came in second place to the Athletics as most foul-mouthed, with 5.114% of Red Sox fansโ€™ comments including swear words. Considering the Red Sox ran roughshod over the Orioles this weekend on our own turf, perhaps VegasInsider.com might consider running those numbers again to include the most recent data available?

As far as emotional tone was concerned, Orioles fans did not rank in the top or bottom five teams for positive or negative comments. They came in at No. 22 (out of 30) on the most-negative scale with 22.64% of the comments being negative, 43.72% positive, and 33.64% neutral. Most positive comments came also from the St. Louis Cardinals fanbase (only 19.93% negative, 46.36% positive, and 33.71% neutral), while the Boston Red Sox fans took the baseball cake for most negative fandom (27.60% negative, 40.20% positive, 32.20% neutral).

Because this author grew up a New York Mets fan and then added the Orioles to her loved teams, she felt the compelling journalistic and moral need to see where the evil New York Yankees ranked. She felt somewhat vindicated to find Yankees fans ranked No. 4 in obscenities (5.04% comments contained swear words) and No. 3 in negative emotional tone (26.47% negative, 41.26% positive, 32.27% neutral).

It remains unclear what Yankees fans are so sour about, considering in three of the last four seasons they finished in first place and made it to the post season. One month into the 2026 season they are sitting in first place of the AL East and cruising, but perhaps this reporter will interview a few of them when she attends a game against the Yankees at Camden Yards in August. Now the METS? Mets fans have something to cry about.

In the meantime, Orioles fans need to up their f*cking game.
