Openings & announcements
Bar Alice Anne, the new Fells Point-area venture from the couple behind The Local Fry, is now open – and early reports are excellent.
Sadly, Wico Street Beer Co. has announced that it will close at the end of May.
Rico Rico Fiesta
From May 8-10, West Covington Park will transform into a massive fiesta celebrating Latin culture. The party includes music, events like a samba parade, and over 80 food vendors.
Rem Fest
Rem Fest returns this year on Saturday, May 9. The annual Remington party features tons of music and activities, plus food from lots of vendors, including old favorites like Big Softy, who will be there with soft shell sandwiches, Detroit-style, pizza and more.
Mother’s Day plans
Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 10. If you haven’t made plans yet, don’t worry, there’s still (a little) time – and lots of options.
Guinness has a fun Roaring 20s themed Mother’s Day brunch in the works, with a live swing band and a photographer on hand for family portraits. Moms will also receive a complimentary zero proof cocktail and a take-home gift.
Throughout Mother’s Day weekend, Miss Shirley’s will have a special cocktail available: a pink rosé watermelon sangria.
Mother’s Day is one of the few days of the year that Hersh’s is open for Sunday brunch.
Rusty Scupper’s Mother’s Day buffet includes everything from an omelet station to smoked ham and roasted turkey.
Johnny’s will offer an all-day buffet, including brunch and dinner hours, with tons of options.
Towson Tavern’s buffet includes breakfast items like waffles alongside savory dishes like shrimp and grits.
Animal Boy will have food and drink specials all day plus flower bouquets from Cydonia Farm available for purchase.
The Manor Tavern’s Mother’s Day buffet includes dishes like mussels in white wine and carved porchetta.
Sotto Sopra will have a live jazz band, free valet, and a special a la carte menu.
Cosima’s Mother’s Day brunch focuses on southern Italian specialties.
At Ryleigh’s, the Mother’s Day menu includes dishes like crabs benedict and a ribeye for two.
Silver Queen Café’s brunch menu will showcase the first Maryland strawberries of the season, among other things.
Gunther & Co. will honor moms with specials available all weekend.
La Calle will have special dishes and drinks on the menu for Mother’s Day.
Of Love & Regret is celebrating moms with a brunch buffet and tea party.
Mother’s Day at Limoncello includes brunch specials, live music, and bottomless mimosas and Aperol spritzes.
Every lady guest receives a complimentary bouquet of flowers at Midlina this weekend.
AAPI Month
On Monday, May 11, Chuck’s Trading Post is hosting a pop-up in honor of Asian American Pacifici Islander Heritage Month, with a percentage of proceeds benefitting Asian American LEAD (AALEAD), an organization that supports Asian American and Pacific Islander youth.
The pop-up includes a Korean-inspired cocktail menu, light bites, and oysters from True Chesapeake.
The Duchess is also celebrating AAPI month all month long with Thursday movie nights (including themed cocktails) and a prix fixe menu available all day, Monday through Thursday.
Crab Derby at Faidley’s
To help celebrate the return of the Preakness, Faidley’s is bringing back its crab derby race, followed by a crab picking contest, to take place on its patio at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13. The winner of the crab picking contest will go home with a $100 Faidley’s gift card.
Wine & oysters at Marie Louise
On Wednesday evening, Marie Louise Bistro celebrates wines of the Loire Valley and their natural pairing with fresh oysters. The ticketed event includes multiple wines to taste alongside oysters.
Black Eyed Suzy Party at Cece’s
On Friday, Cece’s is opening the courtyard for a fun outdoor party in honor of the kickoff of Preakness weekend and Black-Eyed Susan Day. The party starts at 5 p.m. and will include food specials, drinks, and live music.
