Magoobys is coming to Hampden.

Baltimoreโ€™s liquor board has received an application from the owners of Magoobys Joke House in Timonium to grant a liquor license for a 120-seat comedy club they plan to open in Hampden.

The applicant is Magoobys Hampden LLC, trading as Magoobys Hampden. The licensees would be Andrew Bradford Unger and Andrew Robert McCormick. The address is 3600 Hickory Ave., Suite 3, and the applicants are seeking permission to provide live entertainment as part of a new Class “B” Beer, Wine and Liquor restaurant license.

Owned by brothers Andrew and Marc Unger, Magoobys opened in 2010 in the former John Deere warehouse in the 9600 block of Deereco Road in Timonium. It started in 2007 as a comedy club in Parkville. Since moving to Timonium, itโ€™s become one of the largest comedy clubs in the region, drawing heavyweights such as Nate Bargatze, Richard Lewis, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Jones and Baltimore native Stavros Halkias. It also has open mic nights and a monthly new-talent showcase and competition.

The Hickory Avenue location would give Magoobys another venue for performers to appear while adding to the night life options in Hampden. The liquor board has not yet disclosed a date for a public hearing to consider its application. The total estimated capital investment in the project is $400,000, and Drew Tildon of Rosenberg Martin Greenberg is the attorney representing the applicants.

Unger said in an email message that he’s aiming to open Magoobys Hampden in the first quarter of 2027, February if possible.
