With construction starting on Harbor Point and talk of turning nearby Bella Notte into condos, thereโ€™s still plenty of belief among developers that the area east of downtown is prime real estate. For a pair of restaurants, however, Harbor East hasnโ€™t been generating enough customers.

Earlier this week, Baltimore Magazine reported that Chazz: A Bronx Original is closed for good. The coal-oven pizza kitchen, which was owned in part by Oscar-nominated actor Chazz Palmninteri, shuttered following news that Sysco sued co-owner Sergio Vitale for more than $160,000 in unpaid bills. Vitale also owns Aldoโ€™s in Little Italy, where most of the Chazz staff were re-hired.

Talara, the ceviche spot owned by a Pittsburgh restaurant group, will follow Chazz onto the closed list on Feb. 7. As first reported by the Baltimore Sun, it couldnโ€™t make a go of it after six years. Plans arenโ€™t yet in place to open a new restaurant at the President St. site.
