We told you that University of Maryland has the best students in the Big Ten (well, maybe except for this one guy), but, you know, their basketball teams aren’t too shabby either.
Their women’s team finished the year with an 18-0 record in Big Ten conference games and won the conference tournament. The men’s team will make their first appearance in the March Madness tournament since 2010, as a No. 4 seed.
The seeding is a little disappointing, and the Baltimore Sun reports that head coach Mark Turgeon “seemed more than a little perplexed — and peeved” — to find that the team will be grouped with undefeated Kentucky. But at least we have a reason to feel invested in the tournament this year.
