A flight out of BWI had a bit of Snakes on a Plane with hints of Arachnophobia earlier this week. The flight from Baltimore to Atlanta was delayed after a tarantula got loose on the aircraft.

After getting a sense that something didnโ€™t belong, an employee spotted the tarantula in the cargo hold. A Delta spokeswoman told CNN that it was found in a cargo shipment of insects that was โ€œbreached.โ€

The spider was captured before it made its way to the cabin, but the flight crew decided it was time to switch planes. After all, there couldโ€™ve been additional eight-legged creatures.

โ€œWe have to make the safe decision on that โ€” being bitten by a tarantula is not a good thing,โ€ the pilot told CNN.
