In 24 hours, an online crowdfunding event called CLLCTIVGIVE raised $1,123,723 from 2,116 donors, which will benefit 119 Black-led organizations.

The August 9 event celebrated Black Philanthropy Month. It was hosted by CLLCTIVLY, a non-profit whose mission is to end โ€œfragmentation and duplication of programs, to learn from and about each other, and to be a resource for the Greater Baltimore community that seeks to find, fund and partner with Black social change organizations,โ€ according to its website.

โ€œThis was by far an impactful event that will reach dozens of Black-led organizations in Baltimore,โ€ said Jamye Wooten, founder of CLLCTIVLY. โ€œBlack-led organizations receive less than 2% of the $60 billion in foundation dollars. Events like this literally make the difference between staying afloat and shutting oneโ€™s doors.โ€

One hundred and nineteen organizations signed up to participate in CLLCTIVGIVE. They will be the beneficiaries of the funds raised. They were featured on a donor platform accessible to the public, who then were able to make donations.

The organization that raised the highest amount (over $57K) was Sheโ€™s WELL Networked, Inc, an organization that invests in Black women entrepreneurs. The Binti Circle, a support network for Black daughter caregivers brought in over $43K, and the Baltimore Rites of Passage Initiative, a mentoring organization in Maryland dedicated to guaranteeing young people know there are people who care about them and they are not alone, brought in over $34k.
