10 Things to Do This Weekend in Baltimore: A Super City Movie; Freda Payne Sings Ella; Virtual Art Openings; and more

Live music. Art openings. Browsing local businesses. On any normal warm weekend such as this, there would be plenty to go around. But with the pandemic still around (and cases rising in Maryland), we’ll have to settle for a smattering of virtual and socially distanced options. It’s never more important to support local folks, but now is a doubly crucial time to wear a mask. Be safe everyone. Here’s the plan for this weekend:

Live at the Ottobar: A Super City Movie: 8-11 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 14, virtual. The Baltimore band has a streaming set with a mix of familiar and new material, straight from the heart of the beloved Baltimore club.

Drive-In Movies: 7-10 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 14, at Canton Waterfront Park. The Baltimore Rec and Parks series screens “Casablanca” in Southeast Baltimore.

“SURREAL” Opening Reception: 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Y:ART Gallery (virtual). Artists Daniel Stuelpnagel, Richard Hagerty and Cindy Mehr open a new exhibit with their personal interpretations of surrealism. Join the event on Facebook Live.

Freda Payne: Nov. 12-14 at Keystone Korner. The singer performs the music of Ella Fitzgerald, plus her own hits, including “Band of Gold.” Streaming viewing offered.

Barrel Aged Speed Of Darkness Day: 12-6 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 14 at Oliver Brewing Company. The East Baltimore brewery releases three versions of its bourbon barrel aged beer.

Opening Reception: Creature Comforts: 4-6 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 14, at Gallery Blue Door (Virtual). A new solo exhibition features 68 paintings by Scott Philip Goergens.

Craft Your Own Cocktail Tour: 6-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 at Sagamore Spirit. The Port Covington distillery offers stations to make a pair of its signature cocktails, including the Sagamore Fizz and Cinnamon-Maple Sagamore Sour.

The Goods! Sidewalk Pop-Up: Nov. 14-15 at B. Willow. Looking to support local businesses? Check several out in one place the Remington plant destination. Check out clothing, art, jewelry and ceramics. Saturday features a DIY Tye Dye session with AliceAnna.

Broadway East Nature & Vision Walk: 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, at American Brewery. Blue Water Baltimore leads a tour of the East Baltimore neighborhood, and Neighborhood Design Center will be collecting thoughts on ideas for the neighborhood.

“The Burbs”: 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, at Baltimore Soundstage. Check out the Tom Hanks creepy comedy classic, and eat some pizza.
