Thirty homebuyers will each cash in on a $5,000 incentive—a total of $150,000 for down payments and closing costs in Baltimore City—at Live Baltimore and Baltimore Housing’s Buying Into Baltimore Homebuying Fair on Saturday, May 14, starting at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and expanding across the city via tours.

Ready to buy? Just exploring? Anyone at any stage of the homebuying process is invited to meet representatives from neighborhood associations, consult with lenders and get advice from counseling agencies at this twice-yearly event. There will be 20 workshops, related to every step in the homebuying process, including “Preparing Your Credit for Homeownership” and “Understanding Your Settlement Charges and Loan Terms.”

With the help of the experts at Buying Into Baltimore, attendees will learn how to make the most of homebuying incentive programs such as Vacants to Value, Healthy Neighborhoods Loans, and historic tax credits.

The event starts at Poly but will quickly expand throughout Baltimore to Lake Walker, Union Square and Highlandtown. A shuttle bus will take visitors to these charming neighborhoods where they will take a self-guided cell phone tour, explore open houses, and visit local businesses and restaurants.
