In 1996, Towson’s men’s lacrosse team defeated Johns Hopkins. And then, the next year, they lost. And lost again. And lost again–for 19 years, in fact.Last night, Towson broke their losing streak–or, if you’re looking at it from the other direction, Hopkins’s winning streak ended– when the Tigers defeated the Blue Jays 7-5. Inside Lacrosse called the win “a significant and meaningful benchmark for a program that has been little brother to local rivals Loyola and the Blue Jays” and noted that “if you’re the Johns Hopkins coaching staff, you really wish you could burn this game tape.”
