A 4-year-old child has died and an adult is critically injured after a Parkville townhome fire Tuesday night.
Baltimore County fire officials identified the child victim as Wyatt Martin. Their death marks the county’s second fire fatality of 2026.
Fire crews responded at 10:46 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a fire at 100 Comet Court, near Perring Parkway and Hillsway Avenue. They arrived to find smoke coming from the first floor of the townhome.
Firefighters immediately searched for two occupants said to still be in the home. They found an adult and a child (Wyatt) in cardiac arrest on the second floor.
The crews removed the occupants from the home, and emergency medical services personnel tried resuscitating the victims.
Both were taken to local area hospitals in critical condition. Wyatt died at St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
