The Indian Cultural Association of Howard County (ICA) will hold the 8th Annual Festival of India on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19–20 at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Admission and parking are both free.
This year’s festival theme is “250 Years, Countless Stories, One America!”, honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States. While the Annual Festival of India celebrates Indian heritage, it also celebrates American diversity and the countless stories that have shaped the nation. There will also be a focus on celebrating 80 years of India’s independence. Visitors can enjoy cultural experiences filled with music, dance, arts, food, cultural traditions, community organizations, and family activities.
“America’s story is not one story, it is millions of stories woven together,” said Sanjay Srivastava, founder and president of the Indian Cultural Association. “As we celebrate 250 years of America, we are proud to share the Indian American story and celebrate the values that unite us: community, opportunity, service, diversity, and belonging.”
Attendees can learn about Indian culture and the significant contributions of Indian Americans to Maryland and the United States in all areas of life, like education, medicine, technology, business, science, the arts, public service, and community leadership. There will be countless opportunities to connect across communities and foster ties with people from all backgrounds.
“The Festival of India is about bringing people together,” said Niti Srivastava, executive director of the Indian Cultural Association. “It is a reminder that we can proudly celebrate where we come from while embracing the shared values and experiences that connect us as Americans.”
The ICA was founded to promote Indian heritage and culture and to foster understanding, inclusion, civic engagement, and community service. They do this through cultural festivals, educational programs, partnerships, and more. They aim to strengthen the fabric of Howard County and Maryland. The festival has been voted Best Festival in Howard County in the Baltimore Sun’s Best of Howard 2026 poll, its fourth year in a row winning the honor.
The 8th Annual Festival of India — “250 Years, Countless Stories, One America!” highlights will include live Indian music, dance, and cultural performances, authentic Indian cuisine, arts, crafts, and cultural demonstrations, and family-friendly activities. Visitors can shop and explore community vendors, connect with community organizations, and learn about our shared America story through the lens of Indian American heritage.
