The radio station at 99.1 FM is changing formats. Bloomberg is taking over WNEW from CBS, and will now broadcast primarily business news and talk.
The station will now be called โBloomberg 99.1.โ In Baltimore, it will also be available as 105.7 FM in HD-2.Washington Business Journal reports that it will continue to be the flagship station for the Washington Wizards. In terms of staffing, it will operate with โabout a half-dozen local employees,โ meaning many of its current staff of 20 will be laid off, the Washington Postโs Paul Farhi reported.
Under CBS, WNEW emerged as a competitor to fellow DC stations WTOP and WAMU. Last year, the station repositioned itself as a Maryland station, including Baltimore, and its news items were rebroadcast on 105.7 during Orioles games and other sporting events. Along with competitions, part of its issue was an โidentity split between D.C. and Baltimore,โ the Postโs Farhi reports.

Bummer. It is the only station that covers the DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore traffic. Sad to see people let go.
Sucks totally sucks, I was a full time listener since 2012 and I loved everything about the station and the ones broadcasting, really sad to see it go, totally lost now as I live in Harford county Maryland and since they expanded to baltimore it was even better, I even liked the before news music and the traffic music and the tone for the time.
