Activate, which calls itself “the world’s first active gaming facility,” has announced it will open its first Maryland location at The Avenue at White Marsh. Aiming to open the weekend of April 19, the 10,000-square-foot facility will offer a blend of digital gameplay and high-energy physical challenges.
Activate Baltimore (White Marsh) will have 13 high-tech game rooms, including the Mega Grid (made famous on TikTok), Mega Laser, Strike and Control, and others. These game rooms are designed to react in real time, engaging players at every turn.
In addition to digital gaming, Activate offers an experience that blends gaming with real-world action, challenging mental and physical skills at the same time. This makes for ideal team activities, both cooperative and competitive, as players can progress through levels and track achievements via the provided wristbands. To maintain novelty for return players, Activate adds new games and levels so the experience is never the same twice.
“We’re bringing a completely new kind of interactive experience to the state of Maryland – one that blends technology, teamwork and adrenaline-pumping challenges,” said Adam Schmidt, co-founder and CEO of Activate. “We can’t wait to have people play, have fun and come back again and again!”
Activate launched in 2017, and since then has opened over 40 locations across North America, Dubai, and the U.K. The company has locations opening this year in France, Germany, Norway, Denmark, and more.
The White Marsh facility is located at 8165-A Honeygo Blvd., Baltimore, MD. It will be open seven days per week, with hours from Sunday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. – 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday hours from 9:30 a.m. – 11 p.m.
To secure a spot, it is best to book online. Walk-ins are welcome, but subject to availability. From Sunday through Thursday, admission per player costs $24.99 plus tax. On Friday and Saturday, admission is $29.99 plus tax.
