Last year, Iceland’s Wow Air made a splash at BWI with cheap flights to Europe. This could be the year of trips to out-of-the-way domestic destination, if one newcomer has anything to say about it.

Allegiant Air is arriving at BWI as part of an expansion to three new cities. The airline advertises one-way flights as low as $39.

The company specializes in nonstop flights to smaller cities that don’t usually show up on airline deals. The goal is to link those smaller locales with “world class leisure destinations” like Las Vegas, San Diego and various spots near Florida’s coastline. Like the Daily Beast said, Baltimore is now among those stops.

The slate of cities heading into BWI include Savannah, Ga., Cincinnati, Tulsa, Okla., Asheville, NC, Knoxville, Tenn. and Lexington, Ky. Most of the flights begin in the spring, with Savannah being the first up on April 26.
